Argentina

I headed down to Bariloche, Argentina on August 10th. The original plan was to go down with a group of atheltes, photographers and create a web series type video. Two days before the trip I got a call that the whole thing was called off. I still had my plane ticket and work off so i decided to go by myself anyway.

After 30 hours of travel I finally made it to Bariloche! I checked into my hostel and asked the front desk where the best place for a quick bite was. He recommended a Lamb burger at Konna bar.

My first day i went up to Cerro Catedral, the main ski resort in Bariloche. It was an hour bus ride from my hostel and the base of the mountain was still covered in grass, but I could see snow up high.

At the top of the resort, I saw a group of skiers hiking out of bounds. I had been told by a friend that the best skiing was just outside the boundary of the resort so I followed them. I talked to them about the snow and avalanche conditions and they said it was stable with only a little new snow so I wasn’t worried about going by myself. I hiked around the corner and spotted some awesome terrain with only two tracks in it! I went up to the top and found myself with this awesome view.

I skied some great snow and headed back up for another run. I set up my gopro on the way up and was able to capture this great shot as I skied by (I had to edit the long video to find the part when i skied by).

As I was skiing down I ran into my old roommate from Jackson, Miles Clark, Owner of Snowbrains! We linked up for a couple runs and he showed me around the mountain.

It was a great first day skiing and awesome to be on snow in August! I was stoked to meet up with a friend and was planning on some great adventures for the next week! I enjoyed a beer mid-mountain and then took the lift down to the base because there wasn’t enough snow to ski down.
